I AMness

I AMness is the state or the quality of awareness and totally being in the present moment. Being in the present moment, or the here and now, means that we are aware and mindful of what is happening at this very moment. We are not distracted by ruminations on the past or worries about the future, but centered in the here and now. All of our attention is focused on the present moment. The present moment is the only thing where there is no time. It is the point between past and future. It is always there and it is the only point we can access in time. Everything that happens, happens in the present moment. Everything that ever happened and will ever happen can only happen in the present moment. It is impossible for anything to exist outside of it.

Why one finding it very difficult to be in the I AMness? living in the now is so difficult because we are always encouraged to think about the future or dwell on our past. We should realise something that past and future obviously have no reality of their own. Just as the moon has no light of its own, but can only reflect the light of the sun, so are past and future only pale reflections of the light, power, and reality of the eternal present. Their reality is “borrowed “from the now.

If you find it hard to enter the state of I AMness, start by observing the habitual tendency of your mind to want to escape from the now. You will observe that the future is usually imagined as either better or worse than the present. If the imagined future is better, it gives you hope or pleasurable anticipation. If it is worse, it creates anxiety. Both are illusory. Through self-observation, more presence comes into your life automatically. The moment you realise you are not present, you are present. Whenever you are able to observe your mind, you are no longer trapped in it. Another factor has come in, something that is not of the mind; the witnessing presence.

Below is the meditation process by Krishnamurti who is regarded globally as one of the greatest thinkers and religious teachers of all time. Be present as the watcher of your mind, of your thoughts and emotions as well as your reactions in various situations. Be at least as interested in your reactions as in the situation or person that causes you to react. Notice also how often your attention is in the past or future. Don’t judge or analyse what you observe. Watch the thought, feel the emotion, observe the reaction. Don’t make a personal problem out of them. You will then feel something more powerful than any of those things that you observe; the still, observing presence itself behind the content of your mind, the silence watcher. The enlightened person’s main focus of attention is always the Now.

For me personally, being in the I AMness has been of significant benefit for conscious creation. Like attracts like—even if we’re not conscious of it. We’re always “attracting” positivity or negativity based on the energy we’re putting out ourselves. When you are aware, you are in the present moment and you know what you are thinking. You have gained control of your thoughts, and that is where all your power is and energy flows.

When you act out of present moment awareness, whatever you do becomes imbued with a sense of quality, care, and love even the simplest action. So do not be concerned with the fruit of your action – just give attention to the action itself. The fruit will come of its own accord. In the Bhagavad Gita, one of the oldest and most beautiful spiritual teachings in existence, nonattachment to the fruit of your action is called Karma Yoga. It is described as the path of “consecrated action”.

When the compulsive striving away from the Now ceases, the joy of being flows into everything you do. The moment your attention turns to the Now, you feel a presence, a stillness, a peace. You no longer depend on the future for fulfilment and satisfaction, you don’t look to it for salvation. Therefore, you are not attached to the results.

So how do you become in the state of I AMness ? one way is to stop and ask yourself, “What am I thinking now ? What am I feeling now”? The moment you ask you are aware, because you have brought your mind back to the present moment. Whenever you think of it, bring yourself back to the awareness of now. Download a mindfulness bell apps in your mobile phone and set the bell sound for every 10 minutes. When the bell rings, breath and come back to oneself. One way to live more in the present moment is by practicing yoga. Yoga helps people become aware and increase their concentration on what they are doing at any given time. Then, whatever you are doing from eating to scrolling your phone, you should be mindful of it. How often are you eating your lunch while watching TV at the same time? This is one way you might distance yourself from what you are doing and not live in the present moment because all of your attention isn’t on that task or activity.

In conclusion, when you are in the I AMness you can do anything, you want and recreate everything. Begin to be in the state of I AMness, all of your questions will be answered.

Presence is the key. The now is the key.
